Sunnyslope Food and Blue Jean Drive

Sunnyslope Food and Blue Jean Drive
Administration on Scooters

-November
In effort to raise community awareness, Sunnyslope High School held a food and blue jeans drive. Students were given three goals along with three rewards to encourage participation. Each item had a point value: any cans or perishable items worth one point, a dollar worth four points, and jeans worth ten points. The first goal of 1,000 points was quickly surpassed by 463 points, and  students received their first reward of cell phone use at lunch. After two days, students exceeded both their second goal of 2,000 points and their third goal of 3,000 points. Students were rewarded for the 2nd goal with the joy of watching their administrators riding on Razor scooters instead of their golf carts. For the third and final reward, students celebrated by playing small dodge ball games with their fellow classmates. In total students achieved 4,603 points. Overall, 30 gallons of food and over $450 went to the Desert Mission Food Bank, and over 200 pairs of jeans were collected.
