Sunnyslope Earns 'A'
The Arizona Department of Education rated Sunnyslope as an “A” School in their annual assesment of schools.
Accoring to the State Board of Education, “The system measures year to year student academic growth, proficiency on English language arts, math and science, the proficiency and academic growth of English language learners.” They also consider whether “high school students are ready to succeed in a career or higher education.”
The work of the students and staff must come together to succeed in receiving the state’s highest rating.
Assistant Principal for Operations Tim Matteson said, “This recognition validates the efforts, attitudes, and culture of our incredible staff and amazing students. Teachers, staff, and students love being here and it shows!”
Principal Jonathan Parker provided similar praise.
“The recognition reflects the tireless dedication of devoted professionals and the focused commitment by all staff to create the best possible environment for the students we serve,” he said.
Dr. John Lovell, assistant principal of discipline and attendance, agreed. He is happy that students seemingly enjoy coming to school ready to achieve successes.
“Our staff does their utmost to create an exceptional environment that encourages students to come to school every day,” Lovell said.
