(March 11, 2010)
On March 25th at 2:45 in the media center, the SHS Book Club will be discussing a book called Love Must Mean Something.
This book was written by Mr. Rick Birk who is Mr. Tom Birk’s brother. It is a true story about a girl who becomes a champion tennis player without having all the financial advantages that other players have. In fact, the girl is Mr. Birk’s niece who now has her own show on Good Morning Arizona. Mr. Rick
Birk will be here that day to talk about the book and how he became an author. Join us even if you haven’t read the book. But if you want to read it, stop by Mr. Birk’s room or Mrs. Doocey’s room to borrow it. See you then!
Are you a senior?
Are you a junior?
Are you planning to go to college?
Have you taken the SAT?
If you haven’t taken the SAT, there’s still time. The SAT will be offered on May 1st.
Registration for the May 1st SAT closes on March 25th. To register for the SAT, go to: WW.collegeboard.com. Need more information? See Ms. Atkisson in the Career Center.
Attention seniors and juniors:
Now that you’ve decided to sign up for the May 1st SAT test, do you want to improve your SAT score? Do you want to start preparing for the SAT but don’t know where to start? Then take the SAT Prep Class at Sunnyslope High School. These classes are taught by our specially trained teachers Ms. Linnartz and Ms. Robinson.
Each prep class meets for a total of twelve seat hours on our campus right before the actual SAT test. Any junior or senior who wishes to improve his or her test score by preparing for the exam or building confidence to take this important test is eligible. Classes will be held over a 3 day period beginning Saturday, April 24th, Tuesday, April 27th and Thursday, April 29th. The registration cost is $100.00 and the deadline to sign up is Tuesday, April 20th. See Ms. Atkisson in the Career Center, room 406 for a registration form.
Attention Slope!
Tomorrow we will be meeting for trash pick up day! Join us and Mr. J. in room 811 at 2:45.
Sophomores and juniors:
Are you in the top 5% of your class? Do you demonstrate leadership in a variety of clubs or activities? If the first two answers are “yes”, you might want to apply to become a Flinn Scholar and be awarded $80,000 for your college education. Yes, that is some serious money but you must be proactive. See your counselor about an up and coming informational meeting at the Arizona Science Center on either the 29th or the 30th of March.
Oh yeah, you don’t get scholarships unless you apply!
Hey Caliente Mix members!
We will have a mandatory practice at 2:45 in room 902. Remember, be dressed out and ready! Be on time or pay the consequences!
